Basic Details
Prabhujiβs full name is Sharda Kanvar, a 29-year-old woman from Itwari, Post Paharia, Parsada, Janjgir - Champa, Chhattisgarh. She was admitted to Apna Ghar Ashram, Mumbai, on 26 June 2025, after being rescued with the assistance of Naigaon Police Station.
Background & Circumstances
When Sharda was rescued, she appeared extremely quiet and withdrawn, with a noticeable swelling on her right hand. Initially, she did not communicate at all. Gradually, as she began feeling safer, she started interacting by asking personal questions to staff members. Over time, she shared her real name and important family details, including the name of her brother, Khilendra Kanvar and her eight-year-old daughter, Vandana. These fragments of information became the foundation for tracing her family.
Life at the Ashram
At the ashram, Sharda received counselling along with medical care as prescribed by the doctor. With consistent support, her emotional state improved steadily. She became more social, began communicating with Sevasaathis and office staff and gradually engaged with those around her. She also started participating in festival celebrations, often singing songs, which reflected her growing confidence and sense of belonging within the ashram environment.
Family Tracing & Reunion
Based on the details shared by Sharda, the Ashram team contacted the local police station in her native area. With their support, her brother Khilendra Kanvar and her mother Geeta Devi were located. When the family arrived at Apna Ghar Ashram, the reunion was filled with relief and emotion. After a long separation, Sharda and her family embraced each other with joy, expressing deep happiness at being reunited.
Handover Process
Before the reunion, the Ashram completed all necessary identity verification using Aadhaar and ration card details provided by the family. As the reunion involved immediate family members, no additional legal clearance was required. Shardaβs medical condition and social history were carefully explained to her family to ensure continuity of care after her return home.
