Basic Details
Prabhujiβs full name is Barnali Pradhan, an approximately 46-year-old woman from Pradhanpara, Chanak, Nabagram, Murshidabad, West Bengal - 742181. She was admitted to Apna Ghar Ashram on 8 June 2025.
Background & Circumstances
Barnali Pradhan was rescued by the Apna Ghar Ashram Rescue Team and brought into protective care. At the time of her arrival, she was physically stable but emotionally distressed and withdrawn. She communicated only in Bengali, which initially made interaction difficult. Her expressions reflected sadness and uncertainty. In the initial days, she did not share much about her personal history. Gradually, during festivals and group activities, she began expressing that she missed her badi - her village in West Bengal. This longing for home became the first connection to her past.
Life at the Ashram
During her early days at the ashram, Prabhuji Barnali remained quiet and mostly kept to herself. Slowly, she began approaching Sevasaathis and repeatedly expressed her wish to return home to Murshidabad. The team responded with patience, warmth and consistent engagement to build trust. She received regular meals, clean clothing, emotional support and a safe place to rest. Living among other residents helped her feel a sense of belonging. Over time, she spoke more about her son and her desire to see him again, which became her strongest source of hope.
Family Tracing & Reunion
To better understand her background, the Ashram committee arranged for a Bengali-speaking individual to communicate with her. During these conversations, she mentioned her village name and a nearby Sonasi temple. Using map listings and local contacts, the team reached a shopkeeper, who then helped connect them to the village sarpanch. Through this collective effort, her family was traced. Her husband arrived at the ashram to take her home. The reunion was deeply emotional, marked by relief, gratitude and tears. Prabhuji Barnali was visibly happy at the thought of meeting her son again.
Handover Process
Before the reunion, the Ashram ensured careful verification. Family photographs and identity documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, were thoroughly checked. The relatives completed the required letters and documentation. Only after full verification and legal clarity was Prabhuji Barnali respectfully handed over to her husband, ensuring her safety and dignity throughout the process.
Reflections & Impact
This reunion stands as a meaningful reflection of Apna Ghar Ashramβs values of Seva and Samarpan. Seeing Prabhuji Barnali return to her home and family brought deep fulfillment to everyone involved. It reaffirmed the belief that compassion, patience and sustained care can help restore broken connections.
Familyβs Reaction:
The family expressed overwhelming gratitude for the care and protection she received.
Sevasaathis' Reflection:
