Background & Circumstances
Prabhuji Munni is originally from Maihar, Madhya Pradesh. According to the fragments she could recall, she mistakenly boarded the wrong bus and eventually arrived in Mumbai, far from her home and family. Earlier in her village, she had suffered a fall that caused a serious head injury, leaving the left side of her body partially paralysed. This condition made independent movement and communication extremely difficult, placing her in a fragile and highly vulnerable state.
The Call for Help
An elderly woman, later addressed as Prabhuji, was found in a vulnerable condition in Kannamwar Nagar. She appeared disoriented and unable to share her address or family details. Recognising the urgency, the Nirbhaya Team of Vikhroli Police ensured she would not remain helpless. She was taken to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Hospital, where doctors confirmed paralysis on her left side. Once stabilised and with no family traceable, the authorities reached out to Apna Ghar Ashram for protective care.
The Rescue & Arrival
After completing necessary documentation and legal formalities, the police escorted Prabhuji to Apna Ghar Ashram, Mumbai. She was welcomed with warmth, respect and sensitivity. Her admission and medical details were carefully recorded, ensuring continuity of treatment. Sevasaathis helped her settle in by providing a gentle bath, fresh clothes and a clean bed where she could rest peacefully. Nutritious meals and prescribed medicines were arranged promptly. Along with physical care, she received gentle reassurance that she was now in a safe environment where she would be treated with dignity, patience and compassion.
Settling into Safety
Gradually, Prabhuji began adapting to the rhythm of life inside the ashram. She speaks softly with everyone and now recognises many Sevasaathis and fellow residents around her. Though her left hand remains paralysed, she makes heartfelt efforts to stay involved during activities and celebrations, often smiling in shared gatherings. Sometimes, thoughts of her family bring tears, yet she cannot remember her precise address. The surrounding community continues to support her with consistent care, companionship and understanding.
The Present Moment
Today, Prabhuji lives safely under attentive supervision at Apna Ghar Ashram. Her condition is stable, medicines are provided on time and she follows the daily routine with support. In the company of caregivers and other residents, she spends her days with protection, dignity and a sense of belonging.
